Growing up in Lincoln County I thought I would leave for college and return only for family visits. God, however, had different plans for me! I attended Meredith College and was graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intermediate Education. I met my wonderful husband, Jim, at Carolina. GO HEELS! We moved to Houston, back to Denver, and off to Knoxville where I worked on my Master’s Degree in all three cities! I finally finished my Masters of Mathematics at University of Tennessee and we had our first son, Adam, while there. Back to Denver, I taught part-time in university, community college, high school and middle school, while my sons were growing up, and also tutored Math here in Denver for 8 years.

I am happy to begin my second year at Denver Christian Academy serving as part of the Leadership Team (Curriculum & Instruction), and teaching middle school Math, Art, and seventh grade Language Arts.

The beauty and structure of our number system show’s God’s order and creation- even in how Base Ten matches the number of fingers He gave us!

Teaching Art through a project-based Art History curriculum enables me to collaborate with the teachers at DCA to create cross-curricular lessons and projects. One of my favorites is our Gothic “stained glass” window constructions, where we combine creativity and geometric constructions with the history of the Medieval Times and cathedrals.

My love of reading and books has me excited to teach Language Arts this year. I cannot wait to share my love of literature with my 7th grade students and to have an excuse to read more!

It will be wonderful to see our students again and how much they have grown physically and spiritually this summer. I am looking forward to a MARVELOUS year with our DCA family!
